Bingo Millions B2B UX / UI

Mutuel Play

Overview

During my time at Playtech, I led a talented design team in creating the SaaS bingo product while embedding UX culture within the Agile development cycle. In November 2016, I was approached by Rhys Owen, Director of Mutuel Play , to bring my UX/UI expertise to the company and develop new and innovative B2B products for the gambling market. One of the flagship products I took ownership of was Bingo Millions.

Different

Unlike traditional online bingo games, Bingo Millions introduced a fixed-odds format, where players purchasing tickets had the opportunity to win various prize amounts based on achieving specific patterns within a set number of ball calls. If a player completed a full house/coverall within a predetermined number of calls, they could win a £10 million jackpot. The game was available in three variants-90-ball, 75-ball, and 80-ball bingo-each played twice a week at scheduled times. Additionally, we aimed to centralize the wallet between online and retail versions of the game, creating a seamless experience across platforms.

The Challenge

Our goal was to introduce a unique and competitive bingo product in the online market. While we had a solid understanding of our target audience, we wanted to minimize risks associated with new product development by identifying gaps in the market and addressing unmet user needs. By leveraging our expertise and market insights, we aimed to position Bingo Millions as a standout offering in the online bingo space.

Bingo Millions Retail Purchase Journey

The Bingo Millions UI is designed with a mobile-first approach, built using JavaScript frameworks such as React and Redux, alongside HTML5, CSS3, and JSON for a seamless and responsive experience.

Currently, Bingo Millions does not have a dedicated lobby, relying instead on the operator's lobby page. However, the product roadmap envisions expanding its accessibility, allowing players to enjoy the game both physically in clubs and online through a single wallet system for a unified experience.

Key objectives include:

  1. Positioning Bingo Millions as a lottery-style bingo game, where players compete against the house for high-jackpot rewards rather than against each other.
  2. Attracting users from competitors by integrating incentives such as free ticket wins, bonuses, and rewards.
  3. Enhancing user onboarding with a tutorial system to familiarize players with the UI.
  4. Expanding the brand across multiple products to increase market presence.

Fast-paced Bingo Varients

As a lottery-style bingo game, Bingo Millions introduced an innovative approach by simulating traditional bingo event schedules, with two draws per week for each variant. However, we recognized that to attract more users and remain competitive, we needed to offer faster-paced alternatives to complement the original game. This led to the expansion of the Bingo Millions portfolio, introducing Bingo Millions Instant, which provided quicker gameplay, and Millions Turbo, an ultra-fast variant built on a slot game engine for an even more dynamic experience. Mega Bingo Varient

To ensure inclusivity for all player types, we introduced Mega Bingo Millions, a special bingo variant featuring a 10 million jackpot. Unlike regular draws, this version is scheduled around major events and holidays, such as Christmas, Halloween, and Bank Holidays, creating an exciting, time-limited experience that enhances player engagement.
